Treasure

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be (Matthew 6 v 21)

From a young age maybe even predating our toddling stage, we become accustomed to the recurring theme of pirates and piracy and our notions are romanticised. The Pirates of the Caribbean films do little to rectify the situation enticing us further into acquiring the treasure. Pirates in general are very materialistic - after all they always seek some loot and do all they can to pursue it including the standard recruitment of a motley crew with a parrot and a wooden leg or two thrown in for good balance.

In reality there is different treasure that we need to seek and that is God who rejuvenates us. We need to focus on the treasure that is before us, we need to relocate our hearts and set course for the inheritance not an earthly one but rather a heavenly one. We need to be undeterred by any obstacles in our way and focus on the prize. Other believers may help us get their in fellowship but it is our faith which needs to captain the ship and get us to the location of trasure.

All I need is You!

Lord, You are all I need. I need to recognise that you are truely there and your presence is amazing! Thank YOU for everything! Everything pales in significance to You.
This world is not our home and we live in wait for You, help us to be ready! The world can never take you from us! You are the best thing ever! and you are living within us strengthening us! Thanks!

Shine!!!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people the permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Sometimes we just feel insignificant and that we can not play a part. In school and work I am surrounded by non-Christians and struggle to be brave enough to speak out when people are having a conversation about religion or anything, but you can not be a quiet Christian so YOU HAVE TO SPEAK OUT!

It has taken me a long time to recognise myself as a child of God, I guess because of insecurities and failings that it is hard to accept that someone that is powerful beyond measure can look past all the things I hate about myself and call me his child! for me to be a child of God is so unbelievably amazing especially considering what it means, he is prepared an amazing place for us! Heaven ! This world is NOT our home which is why sometimes we feel weak and don't fit in. Sometimes we can't get around the fact that heaven is our true home.

(u)However Frost defines home in Death of a hired man as;(u)
'Home is the place where, when you have to go there,
They have to take you in.'

'I should have called it
Something you somehow haven't to deserve.'

I do feel that those definitions are quite accurate, especially the second! Heaven is something which we have as our home through Christ's grace not through any merits of our own!

God is amazing and we will praise Him! What a wonderful God we have! What a wonderful God we have! What a wonderful God we have!

I'm on fire!!!

Sometimes life is complicated and although we fiercely claim to be independent, we need to take a back seat and let God be in charge.

To be sincere, I know I make a mess of life as I do with everythingelse and I recognise even though I am a Christian I make screw ups as much as everyone else (probably more)! However when I screw up I know where to turn, I have someone beyond comparison to turn to - Christ. He is the sole saving source in my life! When He is in control I remain secure, and know that I am loved despite whatever happens! Consoling me mucho!

This is me admitting, I real can not do this life on my own and I am a failure, insignificant but LOVED! I would fall to pieces without Christ! He picks me up when I am lost! Holds tight when I need comforting! He will never let go and for that I am thankful!

I remember reading some of Psalm 119 this morning in an attempt to kind of keep calm and compromise, and it mentions the writer being thankful that God disciplines him when he slips and that helps him to stay with the Word! I recognised honesty in that! Sometimes we wonder why God does a particular thing in our life and today's reading helped me realise well sometimes it is for our own good that something doesn't happen according to our will but rather to God's will! Our timing is way off, and in this modern world we want things fast; fast cars, fast food, an ultimately fast lifestyle but God's time is different and he provides us with answers in his time when it is suitable.

I need to be on fire for God ALWAYS! A city on a hill cannot be hidden - likewise we have to shine brightly for God!!!

Reminders to myself (As I am really forgetful I may inadvertenly have to leave reminders here so that I don't go back on things)
  • I am going to do all my homeworks this year, unlike last year where I real wasn't acting as I should have.
  • I NEED to pray for Catalina! A darling girl I know!
  • I WANT to shine brightly for Christ!
